S'MORE TIME!!

Our busy Saturday with Rachel and the Grandkids included some morning work pulling weeds in the yard.  Grandpa told Evelyn and Douglas they were going to pay a "weed pulling game" and they were happy to participate.  Grandpa promised them candy rewards for the weeds they pulled.  Douglas pulled up a couple weeds and examined the dirt hanging on the roots and said "Papa- there's no candy under here!!"  Chuck had to explain that wasn't exactly what he meant.  They did enjoy helping out "Papa" and filled up that brown tote to the brim twice with weeds!

Our evening began with roasting s'mores over the fire pit and ended by hanging with Papa in the hot tub.

It was a glorious sticky mess- our hot tub may never recover!!

WHERE GRANDMA WORKS

After our trip to the park on Saturday, I took Rachel and the kiddos to the Utah Olympic Park, where I work at the café for lunch. First, we spent some time outside watching the freestyle skiers flying down the ski jumps and doing aerial acrobatics into the pool below.

Of course, we had to stop and light the Olympic Torch!

Then the kids decided to try an Olympic bobsled on for size.

Douglas and Evelyn took time out to pose for some pictures

We all wanted to play with the exhibits in the Olympic Museum.

Then Grandma had to show off the "Splash Shack" concession stand right by the pool that I have been put in charge of. I am trying to get it ready to open by this Friday.  Got my fountain drinks installed today, but still waiting for IT to get my register up and running.

Still have a lot of organizing, and cleaning to do before opening!

We will be serving hot dogs and Jaffles - which are a meat pie, somewhat similar to "Hot Pockets" which originated in South Africa. Also smoothies, ice cream sandwiches, chips, candy, fountain drinks- typical concession food.

SATURDAY IN THE PARK

Rachel and the grandkids came down from Idaho for the weekend. Saturday we went to the park in the "old town" part of Park City to entertain the kids and let them get some wiggles out.

The weather was overcast, but didn't dampen their fun- they were all smiles!

HOT FUN

Summer seems to have arrived. On the 1st of June someone flipped a switch and warm weather was upon us. We had to turn the ceiling fans on in our house, and we haven't turned them off since. The grass needs to be watered and the mower is busy.

We are grateful to be living in the mountains were it is 10-12 degrees cooler than the Salt Lake Valley. Summer in Park City reminds me a lot of summer in Whistler. When our kids were young, we spent a week every summer in Whistler because there was so much to do.  We have those same opportunities here, and more.....

mountain biking,

Hiking,

enjoying the many booths at the Park City Arts and Crafts Fair  (the above cactus are metal sculptures)

Experiencing the Utah Olympic Park...

This is the view from the café where I work.....
All day I get to watch the skiers on the freestyle team come down these ski jumps and do flips and other aerial acrobatics into this pool.

Watching the "Tour of Utah" Bike Race that starts in Park City then heads up over Empire Pass at 9000 feet and comes down Big Cottonwood Canyon to the bottom (where this picture was taken) and turns and goes back up Little Cottonwood Canyon...

Which makes Chuck and I anxious to get out and ride as well...

Riding the chairlift up to do the Alpine Slide...

We are enjoying exploring our new home. If any of you would like to explore with us, come on down- we have lots of room!
